17th Annual Korematsu Lecture

  • Greenberg Lounge, NYU School of Law 40 Washington Square South New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

We are proud to host Judge Jacqueline Nguyen of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals this year for our annual Korematsu Lecture. As the first Asian American woman to serve on a Federal Circuit Court, Judge Nguyen has been a true trailblazer and an inspiration for all in the Asian American community.

She will be speaking about The Slants case being considered by the Supreme Court, and the various Asian American perspectives on the case. The case is about an Oregon-based band starring four Asian American men who have been unable to get their name, "The Slants," registered by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, raising First Amendment considerations.

After the lecture, there will be a time for questions and a catered reception for the students to meet with Judge Nguyen.

We hope many of you will join us for this year's Korematsu Lecture!
